Sinochem International inaugurates modified ABS raw materials plant in Yangzhou

2022-08-18

Sinochem International has inaugurated a modified ABS raw materials plant in Yangzhou. This new site is an important part of Sinochem International’s ABS China strategy, and it is set to help expand the company’s footprint in engineering plastics and accelerate commercialization of new materials.

The first phase of the new plant, with an investment of 210 million yuan, started construction in April 2021, and has a production capacity of 24,000 tons per year of modified ABS raw materials. The second phase with a capacity of 32,000 tons is now under construction, and will be put into operation in 2023. The total investment of the plant will be around 500 million yuan.

ABS is one of the key new material sectors that Sinochem International prioritizes. In 2019, the company acquired ELIX Polymers, a leading manufacturer of ABS and ABS alloy materials in Europe.

In recent years, the company has been accelerating its ABS China strategy by leveraging both ELIX’s cutting-edge technologies and business model, and internal synergy on ABS, PC and other basic resins.

The new plant in Yangzhou can customize modified ABS products in various specifications by flexibly adapting production lines to the needs on different modified formulas. In the future, the site will also be able to produce modified PC, PA, ASA, PP, PMMA, PBT, PPA and other raw materials.

The company will continue to expand its engineering plastics portfolio and shore up capabilities to customize products based on specific needs.
